WHAT IS A CSA? |
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.
You (the community) give our farm (the agriculture) funding before the season starts to gather all the necessary inputs to bring you quality, delicious, nutrient dense food starting in June. It's like eating fresh vegetables from an heirloom garden, but with none of the work! Although we are not certified, we utilize organic growing practices with a large emphasis on regenerating the land we grow on and supporting the surrounding ecosystem. We focus on getting the vegetables from our field to your plate as quick as possible and many of our items are harvested within 24 hours of distribution. We offer a wide variety of vegetables that changes with the seasons. Our shares will always include a nice selection of popular vegetables as well as a few unique items through out the season. |
WHAT'S IN A SHARE? |
6-10 seasonal vegetables all harvested fresh from our farm usually within 24 hours of distribution.
We diversify the items each week and keep popular items in a higher rotation while still giving a taste of some uncommon ones you might not find in a normal grocery store. A share is designed to feed a family of four (or a vegetarian family of two) for one week. But since most of our vegetables are harvested so close to distribution they will often last for two weeks or more, if stored correctly, giving you a large eating window. We track the cost of the items in each box to make sure the full value is included and offer extra items when we have a bumper crop. |
WHAT IS SEASONAL EATING LIKE? |
Your produce changes every week!
It's difficult to nail down exactly what will be in the boxes each week but we have a general idea of what will be included during different parts of the season. But due to many factors such as weather conditions and pest pressures, there is a certain level of unpredictability that comes with joining a CSA. Just trust us that you will be well-fed all season! IN YOUR FIRST FEW SHARES Fresh greens: lettuce heads, choi, kale, swiss chard Baby greens: Salad mix, arugula, baby kale, spinach Root crops: carrots, beets, turnips, radishes Alliums (onion family crops): scallions, green garlic Microgreens DURING PEAK SUMMER: Fresh greens: at least one per share Root crops: beets, carrots and more Summer fruits: summer squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers Alliums: scallions, garlic, sweet onions, leeks AT THE END OF THE SEASON: Fresh greens: Several per share Long season crops: winter squash, cabbage, rutabagas Alliums: at least 1-2 per share |
